Co-Creation versus DIY
Unlike many web designers, we are happy to work in a collaborative way. We do offer WordPress services for those small business owners that want to do some or most of the work themselves and just want technical support as well as some consultancy services to point them in the right direction and avoid the common pitfalls in managing a WordPress Website.
If you want something very basic and an affordable website, a self-installed WordPress site is a better place to start than free website builders such as Wix or Weebly. WordPress is built around a core set of features, quite sufficient for a basic website. It will also offer the capacity to add functionality, improve your search engine optimisation, custom design, unique content and social media integrations, RSS feeds for Newsletters, etc. when you need it later on.
But there are a few barriers to entry: it does require more technical know-how or just a little bit of money to hire a professional to get you started.
You will need to ask yourself how technically skilled you are, how quickly and how much fun you find learning new technologies and how much time do you have to spend on your website. And whether you want to do this without any technical support. You will find some good advice on my blog.
The main reason for getting a professionally designed website is to achieve the results you want. Your website will look better, it will function better and it will be an asset to your business when you have it professionally designed.
